A little-known team lurking within the halls of SIG SAUER is the Special Weapons Group. The name alone makes me want to ask where to sign up. The team of individuals assigned to this group, dedicated to the pursuit of innovation, accepts the task of creating products specifically to address the needs of elite military units worldwide, advancing capabilities and meeting the most rigorous demands in a constantly evolving and unforgiving environment. One of the results of this pursuit is the SIG SAUER P320978.

In October 2022, the SIG SAUER P320 was selected as the handgun of choice for the Australian Defense Forces as part of a program to modernize ADF small arms. The program is known as LAND 159, or The Lethality System Project. Its overall goal is to equip ADF soldiers with next-generation weapon systems, surveillance and target acquisition devices, ammunition, and support systems, ensuring ground forces maintain technical superiority over potential adversaries beyond 2030. The
