POTD: Finnish Conscripts Train with U.S. Service Weapons
By Eric B
Photo Of The Day – Finnish conscripts were engaged in a unique training exercise, learning to handle U.S. service weapons, specifically the M27 Infantry Automatic Rifle. The training took place in the dense forests of Upinniemi, Finland, as part of a collaborative effort with U.S. Marines. This exercise was a component of the 2024 Reconnaissance/Counter-Reconnaissance deployment in the Baltic Sea region, under Task Force 61/2.
“The training aimed to enhance interoperability and strengthen defense capabilities between the Finnish forces and their U.S. counterparts, fostering closer military cooperation and readiness in the region.”The Finns also had a go with the M240B machine gun during a live-fire range (not pictured here).Below: A Finnish conscript fires the M27 Infantry Automatic Rifle. Do you think they want to switch service rifles with the Marines or keep their AKs?
