The new Swedish Automatkarbin 24 makes another appearance in TFB’s Photo Of The Day. Ak24 for short, except it’s AR patterned and not an AK. Although I bet the Finnish Army wished it was an AK! Above you can see the Ak24 with a suppressed, fired in full auto. I almost lean forward as I write this, to control the recoil. Please tell me you can feel it too! These photos are from FMV (Swedish Defence Materiel Administration) and one of their trials. Note that the color of these firearms are a bit different from the Cerakoted ones that will be delivered. The Automatkarbin 24 was initially called “Självskyddsvapen 24A”, or SSV24A, as in Personal Defense Weapon 24A. The change in name makes it a lot easier to pronounce, even for Swedes! The Automatkarbin 24 is made by Sako, a part of the Beretta group, and chambered in 5.56x45mm NATO. The red dot here is made by Aimpoint Sweden.
